An ardent scribbler and sketcher, Ramon has been drawing for as long as he can remember. Intrigued by architecture from an early age, he is fascinated by how a home can tell so much about the person who lives there.

After starting his own practice in 1998, he co-founded PP and today has over 30 years’ industry experience ranging from heritage restoration and design and construction practices, to modular prefabrication.

Ramon works closely with clients, learning about their lives, aspirations and priorities to unlock the most appropriate response. He sees every project as an opportunity to challenge architecture industry norms and improve environmental outcomes.

Avoiding trends and always aiming to simplify, Ramon’s pragmatic and problem-solving approach gets projects built, sees them stand the test of time and age gracefully.

A keen gardener, the integration of landscape is integral to Ramon’s design process and when he’s not designing homes, he can be found exploring design ideas in his own garden.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Simon arrived at the University of Melbourne School of Architecture in 1994, armed with an Art History degree and a childhood passion for architecture, further inspired by two years’ travel in the UK and Europe.

The discovery of Mies van der Rohe while perusing books at the university library was a revelation, introducing Simon to the emotive power of architecture and the understanding that less can be more, which has fuelled his design ethos ever since.

Simon met Ramon Pleysier as a student intern where they bonded over discussions on design and construction details before forming PP in 2002. Their instinctive collaborative, client centric approach and close builder relationships have defined PP’s practising principles and led to successful design and construct partnerships.

As well as contributing to PP’s design ethos and project portfolio, Simon focuses on the development of PP’s culture as a creative, inspiring and nurturing studio that fosters talent and promotes growth for ambitious young architects and designers.

Throughout his career, Simon has maintained a keen interest in art through collecting, sponsoring and developing the PP Art Space, which collaborates with local galleries to promote artists and artisans.

The daughter of an architect, Berit grew up in Germany surrounded by architectural documents and anecdotes. She studied architecture and was selected by her Professor to work in his studio on a number of highly detailed and beautifully resolved projects. She also joined him part-time in his institute for research of innovative materials and building methods.

When she arrived in Melbourne in 2006, her first job was at PP. She sent an expression of interest and, despite no positions being vacant, Ramon and Simon recognised her passion, German design sensibility and technical proficiency, and she was immediately embraced by the team.

As PP’s first Design Director, Berit is responsible for completing many of PP’s most significant projects. Her leadership has been instrumental in the development of the practice as it has evolved from the small boutique she first joined. She has been heavily involved in all facets of the studio including technology, documentation protocols, construction detailing, as well mentoring and training.

Berit has a strong design ethos, founded on an elegant plan, always resolved in close dialogue with her clients, in conjunction with careful material selection and meticulous attention to detail. Whether sketching design ideas on butter paper or analysing product literature for a project detail, Berit thrives in the studio but she’s most at home on the building site, collaborating with contractors and finessing details to perfection. She loves the problem-solving challenges architecture brings and her technical skill and practical approach has been a huge asset to her clients and PP.

While not immersed in her projects or contributing to PP’s culture and development, Berit is most likely riding her bike in some remote, spectacular location, on an extremely challenging track. Or walking Nacho, the office labrador, around her local park.

Ross is fascinated by the diversity in architecture: the history, how it inspires learning, exploring, discovering, responsibility and collaboration. As Design Director at PP, his mission is to humanise architecture and his sensitive and pragmatic approach forms close bonds with clients. By understanding who they are and their aspirations for the space, Ross creates a link between architecture and psychology, creating poetic and sensory homes that tell stories of people and place.

With a Diploma in Building Design and Technology from RMIT and a Master of Architecture from Deakin University, Ross is inspired by his extensive travelling in Europe, UK and America, where the Châteaux of the Loire Valley, castles of Germany and a weatherboard farmhouse in Louisville, Kentucky were among his most memorable architectural experiences. When he’s not designing, Ross can be found outside, camping, exploring, hiking, fishing and getting lost.

Originally from Port Macquarie NSW, Stewart studied a bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Canberra. During his masters, he studied in Japan where he travelled and visited the country’s most notable traditional and contemporary architecture.

Stewart joined PP in 2016 and as Design Director his expertise in single residential architecture and new builds is defined by function and attention to detail. With a minimalist aesthetic and emphasis on material, context and light, Stewart creates spaces reduced to their most essential where inhabitants can impart their own personality.

Outside of architecture, Stewart is inspired by nature, music and art – Chillida, Donald Judd, Mark Rothko and Ellsworth Kelly to name a few.

For Lisa, architecture is the blend of creativity and problem-solving. Having completed a Bachelor of Design majoring in Architecture and Civil Engineering from QUT and then a Masters of Architecture from Melbourne University, Lisa sees architecture as a lifelong challenge and security from ever becoming bored.

An Associate at PP, Lisa believes design should be approachable and pragmatic, and she always tries to get clients the biggest bang for their buck. Drawn to the obscure opportunities that renovation and extension projects present, she understands that each home is unique, just like its occupants and the climate it’s built in.

According to Lisa, an architect’s greatest value is problem solving effectively without compromising a beautiful and lasting result. When she’s not at the drawing board, she’s inspired by all the things that miraculously survive in her garden.

As Associate and Senior Documenter at PP, Mark is responsible for ensuring regulations are understood and construction details are optimised. He has a particular interest in mentoring young architects, providing support during the detail documentation and construction phases of projects.

Mark studied Architectural Technology in his hometown of Christchurch NZ, finishing his studies in Horsens, Denmark. He has always appreciated good architecture and has an innate understanding of construction, making him an expert communicator with clients, consultants and contractors to deliver the best outcome. Passionate about the process and attention to detail, Mark loves expanding his knowledge and passing it onto the team.

Outside of architecture, Mark’s focus is on family and friends, as well as his physical and mental health. Setting a good example for his kids drives him to be the best version of himself, where being happy and healthy is a priority.

After a decade studying and working in graphic design, both in Melbourne and Toronto, Dwayne returned to study Interiors after realising he enjoyed a more tactile medium. As an Associate Interior Designer at PP, he designs beyond aesthetics to how interior design can impact day to day life.

A self-confessed minimalist and inspired by Japanese design ideals, Dwayne’s approach is characterised by well resolved design. He enjoys the challenges and problem solving that come with working on heritage homes and relishes creating simple, honest designs that aren’t overly defined and allow the client to create their own experience and emotional attachment.

Dwayne regularly practises Brazilian jiu jitsu, likes to keep fit and listens to 80s and 90s Punk music.

Josie is an experienced designer with over 12 years’ experience in architecture, interior design and landscape design. An Associate at PP, Josie sees architecture and interior design as one and believes in a holistic design process that integrates all aspects of design including architecture, interiors, furniture, landscape, lighting and artwork.

Josie is passionate about forming a personal connection with the client and their brief. From there, she extracts a design outcome that is personal, challenging and a process of discovery, continuing to inspire the inhabitant over time. As well as going on great adventures both locally and abroad with her long distance running, Josie is inspired by music, nature (our greatest teacher) and chairs. She likes a really good chair design.

Elly originally studied Law at university but decided to follow her passion and study interior design. With a keen interest in residential and hospitality interior design, she’s interested in the way a space can evoke a feeling.

An Associate Interior Designer at PP, Elly takes a minimalist design approach incorporating the use of natural materials and the layering of textures. Her focus is on designing spaces that are seamless with both the architecture and the landscape, and believes the collaboration between specialties gets the best results.

Outside of design, Elly enjoys travelling, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.

Georgina grew up around design and has always admired creatives from all walks of life, from designers and architects to artists and musicians. From a young age, the world of creativity has always been a space she has wanted to be a part of. After completing a Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Honours) from Monash University, her passion has remained in the principles, clients and materiality choices of residential design. Whether it’s renovation, restoration or innovation, Georgina enjoys taking the time to understand clients, their requirements and how they use the space to produce a beautiful, practical and successful outcome.

An Associate Interior Designer, Georgina’s design follows function and, with a minimalist aesthetic, she creates spaces filled with light, textures and materiality that positively influence the lifestyles of the people who use them. When she’s not designing, she can be found on or near the water, doing home renovations and playing the piano.
