The generous proportions and design integrity of the original 70’s house provided the bones for a renovation and extension that has successfully transformed it into a striking contemporary family home.
A dedicated kids’ zone, including a rumpus room was created by extending the first floor, while the parents’ bedroom and adjacent study and gym are on the ground floor. A large lounge and an open plan kitchen living pavilion are located to maximise their relationship with the outdoor entertaining area, pool and garden beyond. A more welcoming entry was achieved by inserting a glazed courtyard with a circular void to frame a tree. The introduction of metal battens, matt steel roof cladding and a fine steel pergola provides an elegant contrast to the existing masonry walls, which received a fresh white bagged and paint finish.
The clean lines and monochromatic elegance of the interior design by Studio Griffiths integrate seamlessly into the architecture, offset by an expansive garden designed in collaboration with Ben Scott Design and Bott Landscapes.
